If you travel with your dogs, then you know how challenging it can be to find a hotel that welcomes your pets, too. Dog-loving travelers must often search a bit to find a pet-friendly hotel, and even then they face restrictions on the number of dogs and their sizes, as well as hefty pet fees.

A new hotel chain is seeking to change all of that. The Canopy by Hilton chain has announced that all of their North American hotels will now offer “Paws in the Neighborhood.” This dog-friendly check-in policy makes pet owners truly feel at home when they check in.

The Canopy by Hilton has partnered with Planet Dog, a company producing environmentally-friendly pet products. Together, the companies have created a “Paws in the Neighborhood” welcome kit offering everything a pet owner will need for their stay. The kit includes a cinch pack, a Planet Dog Orbee ball, a house-made or locally-sourced dog treat, and a dispenser with pickup bags. It also includes a guide highlighting the important local spots for pet owners, such as local neighborhood parks, vets, groomers, pet supply stores, and dog-friendly restaurants.

The Canopy by Hilton hotels allows up to 2 dogs weighing 75 pounds or less to stay in the hotel with their owners. There is a pet fee of $50, which is non-refundable. Even the rooms themselves are dog-friendly and will include dog beds and food and water bowls. Pet owners can also borrow collars and leashes if needed.

Guests of the Canopy by Hilton hotels receive 20% off any purchases from Planet Dog.

Since more and more people travel with their pets than ever before, it only makes sense for a hotel to welcome in pets, rather than turning them away, alienating potential clients.

Want to head to a Canopy by Hilton hotel? The first American location is in the Wharf district of Washington, D.C., and is open for business. Additional locations are planned for Rockville, Maryland; Portland, Oregon; Dallas and San Antonio, Texas; Ithaca, New York; London, England; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Atlanta, Georgia; Toronto, Canada; West Palm Beach, Florida; Charlotte, North Carolina; Baltimore, Maryland; and Columbus, Ohio.
