Little Girl Was About To Be Bitten By A Rattlesnake Until Her Hero Cat Swooped In To Save Her!
Animals aren’t just our best friends. All too often, they’re also our guardian angels. A little girl in Orlando, Florida was nearly bitten by a rattlesnake while playing outside, but luckily, her cat Oreo stepped in just in time! Jaiden Peterson, 10, had raised Oreo from a kitten, so he was naturally protective of his human sister. “It’s not just Jaiden that has such a strong bond, although she is the closest,” Cyndi Anderson, grandmother, told Love Meow. “It’s the whole family. He seems to watch over everyone in strange, inexplicable ways, including the 11-month-oldhuman sister. He seems to be wise beyond his years.”
“He is always within feet of the children and seems to be observing everything,” Cyndi added.
“He acts like a dog. He is extremely affectionate and sleeps in the bed with his humans. He has to be close to them at all times and is loyal beyond loyal.”
On November 25, Jaiden and her siblings were out playing, Oreo watching over them, as he always did. But they noticed that he was acting rather strangely, and it was then they spotted it: an eastern diamondback rattlesnake. The snake was quite close to Jaiden and the kids, but luckily, Oreo hurried over and fought off the snake while his human friends had time to get away.
Oreo did earn himself a bite on the leg, and it began to swell. He was taken to an animal hospital, where Jaiden stayed by his side and watched over him as he received life-saving water treatment, wound care, and IV antibiotic treatments. “He is showing determination to heal,” Cyndi said. “He’s a trooper. Oreo’s condition is getting better and it does appear that his wound is healing — with proper continued care, his leg will be saved.”
Now he’s back home with his family, including his beloved sister Jaiden, whom he risked his nine lives to protect. “Sweet Jaiden was asked what she wanted for Christmas this year and she stated that all she wants is things for her kitty to be happy and healthy,” Marie Braithwaite, a family friend, told Love Meow.
