Mom Pregnant With Twins Gets Another Sonogram And Is Surprised To Learn She’s Expecting Quintuplets!
The chances of conceiving quintuplets is nearly one in seven million, but that’s what happened to Czech mother Alexandra Kinova. She and her partner Antonin Kroscen both have a family history of twins, so it didn’t come as a surprise when Alexandra found out that she was pregnant with two babies. But several months into her pregnancy, a doctor did another sonogram and announced that the parents were expecting four babies instead of two. And a month after that, a doctor confirmed that there was a fifth baby inside of Alexandra’s womb! “When we finally found a fifth head, I started to cry,” Alexandra said.

When it came time for her to give birth, Antonin nearly didn’t make it as his train was delayed. “I was crying all the way since I feared I would not manage it,” he said.

The hospital scheduled twice the amount of midwives and doctors to be present for the birth of Alexandra’s quints. According to the head of the neonatal unit, there were no complications during the procedure. The couple happily welcomed their four new boys, Deniel, Michael, Alex and Martin, and their one baby girl, Tereza, into their family.
“In our country (birth) statistics have been recorded since 1949 and there’s no mention of quintuplets. In the Czech Republic quintuplets are born on average once every 480 years,” doctor Alena Mechurova said.
