Rescue Dog Who Was Badly Hit By A Car, Gets Adopted Into Forever Home With Plenty Of Cuddly Toys – Can’t Be Happier
Nugget was hit by a car when he was just a puppy, left badly injured and abandoned at a shelter by a family who could no longer care for him. Thankfully, the San Diego Humane Society took him in and got him a cast to help him heal. They also found him a loving foster family. That’s how Nugget ultimately met his new pet parents: Lynda Dean and her boyfriend. Lynda was friends with his foster mom, and in spite of his injured leg and deafness – both likely a result of the car accident – she quickly fell in love and adopted him as soon as he was all healed up.
Nugget was ecstatic to have a new, loving home, and even more so because it came with some very special toys! His pet parents had signed him up for a subscription toy service, and it wasn’t long before Nugget developed a bit of an obsession.
“Every month when that box arrives and he sees it, he goes crazy and can’t wait to dig in and see what he got,” Lynda said. “He has a lot of toys … sometimes we think too many as they are everywhere in our house from him carrying them around and leaving them places. But he loves them so much.”
He carries them with him everywhere, sleeps with them, and on top of them!
The soft, comfortable toys bring him an enormous amount of comfort, which Lynda assumes he was deprived of in his former life.
“If he’s not sleeping in his toys, he always makes sure to bring a couple to bed with him and he’ll sleep with it,” Lynda said. “My guess is he never had toys wherever he came from originally, so he definitely cherishes them.”
“For everything he’s been through he is extremely smart, loving and attentive,” she added. “We definitely hit the jackpot when we found him.”
